During the Great Patriotic War, many Soviet soldiers and officers tried to get the trophy 'Walther'. The pistol of this brand with the acronym P38 was into service with Wehrmacht. Although a half a century earlier - in 1886 - the German company Carl Walther started its biography with the production of hunting guns and sports rifles, it would start produce pistols only since 1908. The production capacities of the company after the World War II were nationalized by the government of GDR. The company moved to Germany, but by the end of 1950 it managed to return the usual position in the market by resuming the production of the legendary 'Walther', which was renamed into P1 for the needs of the Bundeswehr. In recent years, in addition to the traditional areas - pistols and rifles - the company is actively developing the production of sports weapons and equipment.
